As a lifelong amateur astronomer, with a particular interest in Mars, and having observed the Red Planet through most of its ‘oppositions’ since 1972 (often using homebrew telescopes), I have imagined how it will be to actually set foot in that planet. This story concerns spacemen who are on Mars, and yet they yearn for and seek closer contact with the reality beyond their carefully controlled and contained lives.
I hope it will be part of a series.
